the light that brightens autumn trees
the view outside, summer is ending

sliding glass door
small wood panel veranda
too small to hold us all
near the backyard
waiting

barrier of fruit trees
blackberry bushes
a cherry tree and others
some kind or another
fruitless

leaves rustle
dark night hides
no wind is heard
only the sound of leaves
beckon

winter light whispers
through the branches
brightening dark sky
snow leers near
fall

Nothing moves
only the light
that brightens
autum
trees
