WHITHER MY SOUL
I don’t know my station in life In this world or in the next world. I squandered my days in pursuit Of pleasure and not of His word. Shall He chastise me for my sin Or shall He be benevolent? Shall He lift me up in His arms? Shall punishment be His intent? Should I ponder at this at all? Is this not really His task? It is for Him to judge my fate. I should not any favour ask. He is the one who gives to all Without asking, what they deserve. Our task is to do our duty, Which is to but selflessly serve. * Written in abcb, 8-8-8-8 format. * Written as a sample poem for "POETRY IN RHYME - RHYTHM CONTEST-winner" M C Gupta 17 June 2007
