FANCY DRESS PARTY: a sonnet
The fancy dress show goes on in full swing, The quetzal hat, the peacock dress, the pearls. All want that they a real surprise spring. A colorful display, in fact, unfurls. The dance and light and music captivate, Champagne and Chivas Regal flowing free. When bodies mingle, they don’t hesitate, In every nook and corner there’s much spree. I wish you very happy day indeed On having sixteen years of age attained. But verily my heart today does bleed. By such high spending what all have you gained? In hunger half the children their life spend. How can this party I enjoy my friend? M C Gupta 23 June 2007
