Covered Only in Darkness I lay here in an empty room No light to chase away the gloom In my mind, shadows loom Covered only in darkness. No bandage to cover my wound Eternally entombed In a life that’s doomed Covered only in darkness. Shrouded in mystery Shadows become beauty Slipping away would be easy Covered only in darkness. Like bare fingers against bark The pain is just so stark Afraid of the slightest spark Covered only in darkness. There is no respite From day or night Always ready for the fight Covered only in darkness. What gods should I appease? What more can I ask but please? What else is left to seize? Covered only in darkness. My mind slowly slips away Seeing life like a screenplay With the stench of decay Covered only in darkness. I fight against the chains Against aches and pains But all I do is strain Covered only in darkness. The shadows reshape In ever-changing moonscape But never can I escape Covered only in darkness.
