MAMA'S HEART

Mama's heart has been broken
by those she loves best
for they have gone and left her
they have flown the nest

She didn't want to let them go
she knew it would be hard
they will no longer be there
playing in the yard

She put away the baby things
no longer do they fit
she gave away the rocker
upon which they sit

Mama's heart hides many secrets
that may never be told
she keeps her children there
more precious than gold

Tho mama's heart was broken
she does so understand
she has to break the ties
and still hold out her hand.
