[I haven't even met you yet]

I haven't even met you yet
and already I'm over the moon.
I'm not sure when I'll be able
to hold you and smell your
sweet baby smell,
but I am anxious for that
one moment when I first hold
you and know I'm your Mom.

I wonder:
will you have my gray/blue
mood ring eyes or your Dad's
soft brown?
You'll be tall, as we are.
Will you have red hair?
Your Dad says no and cites
some scientific reason
(I think you might, as
dad's scruff grows in copper).
You'll have large feet,
and for that I apologize
in advance.
Will you be well-rounded,
play sports,
love to read,
run with your dad
and watch NASCAR with me?

I can't wait to watch
you grow up and
experience all life
has to offer.
I can't promise we'll
be perfect parents,
but you can count
on us to love you,
support you,
and give you every
opportunity to become
a truly amazing person.
We're not ready for
you yet, Little One,
but when we are
you can be sure
you're in good hands.
