As I stand here today, seeing all of you who have gathered to bid farewell to Thinky, I am amazed and touched by how many there are. I had no idea that little Thinky touched so many lives. I know she would appreciate the time and consideration you’ve shown her by coming here today.

I think back to the day I met Thinky. I had been working there for about eight months as a contractor, when I was hired as a full-time employee. With that shift came a reassignment from my clunky desktop computer to my sleek, little Thinky. I remember the joy I felt at holding her for the first time; the realization that I could now work from home if the need arose. Thinky brought me a freedom that I had not before known.

Sure, there were hard times; the Tuesday afternoon near-freezes due to virus scans, the actual freezes and lock-ups for no apparent reason. Sure, I lost data that I thought was backed up. But we are not here to dwell on the bad times…not even the time her hard drive fried like an egg on an Arizona butte…where was I…oh, yes, we are not here to dwell on the bad times, but to remember the good times. All those days when I laid on my couch, in my sweats and T-shirts, watching TV and “working from home”. All the stories we shared while I sat at my desk in my office, “working”. Such stories as "Dark Chocolate Dreams [13+] and "The Hanging Tree [13+], and even several chapters of "Out of the Labyrinth [13+]. All the people she allowed me to meet in that wonderful community, Writing.com! People like Storm , Robert Waltz , Mumsy dreams of Greece , Darkin Lousy Day of Doom , and CCWolf . Yes, my little Thinky and I had quite a journey together. Too bad Problematic Content had to throw that stink-bomb into scroll. Thinky just couldn’t cope with the stench. Her poor little hard drive just gave out. So here we are gathered to send her on her way to that great motherboard in the sky. Fare thee well, my little friend. I hope you look down on us and…what’s that?...my new laptop is here?...and it’s THE latest model?...Later, folks, I got work to do! Bigsmile
