Thank you jimmyfin and my January 2009 Secret Pal for the remarkable plaque that graces this folder!
A Little Personal History
My mother says that when I get something, when I truly understand it, I can hit it hard... and have plenty of fun doing it! I never really caught onto math, maybe because I didn't try hard enough, but as soon as I caught onto reading and writing in second or third grade I began to do a lot of it. At first, I payed special attention to reading, but the older I became, the more I wrote.
Although I wrote some when I was younger, I was never really serious about it. I was never able to accomplish anything. I think that, had I been able to write faster or been able to at least focus on what I was doing, I would've been able to finish my work; but this never happened. Still, I was interested in writing, and in late 2002 or early 2003 I met someone else in my church who also loved writing. She told me about a place called writing.com. Intrigued, I went to check it out. I signed up as Ariana, but lost my account because I was inactive. Understandable. I just wish I had saved my work! I no longer possess my stories from childhood (though some of them I remember and would like to re-create) or the era of Ariana.
My First Days in Writing.Com
In April 2005, I remembered this site. Being at a time in my life where I could get back to writing, I signed on again. This time as Emily (a name I have always liked) Logchester (a name a friend of mine had used to help me come up with stories in high school). I came back on with a vengeance. This time determined to find something to be published.
At first I spent a lot of my time, nearly all of my time, reading and reviewing. When I backed off on that, I wanted to see what else could get me gift points for the Upgrade I wanted to get. Along the way, I found out about groups.
I do now run two other groups. One is in the spirit of encouraging people to blog on and get read, "Invalid Item" , and the other is to help those who have recently published novels or upcoming novels get out into the public's hands, "Invalid Item" . Check 'em out! Either one or both may be just what you've been looking for!
I've learned about some pretty cool stuff here at writing.com (often referred to as WDC). First, I love word searches; which can be accessed in the area at the top of your page. I've created my own, "Invalid Item" by A Guest Visitor and "Invalid Item" by A Guest Visitor , with plans to create more.
I also learned about scrollies, which can be accessed by clicking down on "Member Tools" and going to "IM Console." I've gone to Launch Chat before, but I don't believe anyone uses that anymore. I think scrollies have pretty much taken over because I've gone there (to the chat room) a couple of times, mostly by accident, and never seen anyone. This has changed since the original writing of this piece. Chat is more active now, and both scroll (still active) and chat may be accessed in the Site Navigation panel.
For more information on my life, please see my "Invalid Item" , which may also be accessed by clicking "My Blog" under my name on the front page of my blog. Note: Due to a consistent lack of time on the internet lately, I haven't posted much of any thing lately. I hope to remedy this some where in the near future.
What I See In My Future
God is always first. Family is close behind, followed by work (ie:writing). I love God, you may catch me praying to him through out the day, and make sure that I have daily devotions. I also enjoy spending my time with like believers at church, as well as anywhere else I see them. God is my life. Where would I be without Him?
My family comes next. I am a mother of one son, who I call Dude on WC, and am engaged to a good Christian man who I dub Ben here. He's been a real blessing ever since High School and it is my goal to honor him. You can read more about him in "Invalid Entry" .
Of course, I have the writer's dream of one day being published. I would like to be able to write a page-turner that people will enjoy. In the meantime, I enjoy hanging around WC and writing when I can. What I've talked about here on my map is, of course, not everything in my port, but it gives you a good start as well as letting you know about some of the things I like here at WC. So, if what I've shared with you does not whet the pallet, feel free to poke around and see what else I have to offer!
