If you were a leg
and I was a Pit Bull,
I'd sink my teeth into
your calves
Like a great, enameled white trap,
and never let go.

In this way
my mouth could feel directly
the warmth of your heart.

You could wear my bite
for the rest of your life,
each slightly different puncture
like a negative charm.

Then animal control
would put me to sleep,
which is proper
after such a radical kiss--

even though they'd be killing me
to save the boring neighbors
with their limp hugs
and dry pecks...
