Life Unrelenting Buzzing alarm, tepid instant coffee on the run. Waiting for buses, reading for escape. Work, monotony, drudgery and toil. The clock, my master, jailer and savior. Life measured out by minutes and pennies. Never quite enough; always found wanting. Night, a coiled serpent choking life out of day. Sunset, day’s last gasp before dark oblivion. News, last call at night; bid adieu to day, time for reflection, recrimination. Sleep, a restless stalker on the hunt for prey, caught early or late, sometimes, not at all. Dreams, a brief escape into paradise or hell, unbidden, unleashed, uncontrolled, unreal. It begins again, same as yesterday and the day before. Life unrelenting.
