YOU MIGHT NOT BELIEVE THIS, BUT ~~

In the university biology lab, two men were staring at an empty cage.

The older man said, "So that's your story? They just disappeared?"

         "It isn't a story; it's what happened."

         "You know that's not possible.

"I don't know if it's possible or not but it happened. One second they were there and the next they were gone. Like Star Trek beamed them up."

         "And you saw them vanish?"

"Yes I did. I swear it. Gimme a stack of Bibles and I'll swear on every one."

"Do you have any idea what a pair of breeding chimps costs? The bosses aren't going to like that you lost them."

"I didn't lose them. They vanished."

"Yeah, that's what you said. The question is what will I say when somebody asks where they are? They got lost on my watch and I'll get the blame for it."

*****

The ship was in a stationary orbit behind the moon. I won't try to describe the beings aboard because frankly they are indescribable.

The two chimps lie on something that might be an examining table.

One of the indescribable beings said, "We don't need to be concerned with this planet for another million zorms."

The other agreed. "Send them back."
