A Sad Life

A child sings
A mournful song
A song of lives once lived
Pulled by the roots
She moans and wails
And sings a mournful song.

Her life was taken
Stolen away by two
Parents
Laws and ways
Her childhood stolen
She’s a teenager now
She lifts her head and sings
A mournful song.
She lives she’s strong
Her song of lives once lived
Changes to
The song of those still living
And she sings
Now for life
For living
She sings for
Her life
She sings for her soul
She sings for that entire life she’s lost
She sings.
