Glancing at several different photos,
I see your smiling face.
Tears still fall,
Memories can’t erase.

You looked so happy.
How were you dying inside?
No one knew, the man we loved,
Was leaving us so soon.

You’re wearing that tie,
In my favorite photo.
The different colored squares
Matched the maroon shirt at the time.

Buried in that tie,
I still remember…
The tears that fell
As they praised you

God took you that day,
And no one knew words to say.
Your pale white face proved it,
We weren’t dreaming at all.

The words you said that last day,
Still stick in my head,
“Don’t forget about me”
Was the last thing we’ll ever hear you say
