THE PATH OF LOVE

What makes you so woebegone,
O beautiful maiden?
Lost in a whirlpool of thoughts
When love has just begun!

In this world the path of love
Has not ever been smooth.
Why hope that somehow your love
Will your own sorrows soothe?

Remember, the course of love
Is but traversed alone.
Only you and your lover
Must your own fate bemoan.

Wails and cries of love are what
Do cement the love bond.
With smiles as well as with tears,
The lover must respond.
