Max began wandering around. He had never been in the city before, coming from the country. The city was nothing like his hometown. It was busy with cars whizzing past and people rushing by. Max felt completely out of place and fear began to creep in. as he wondered where his family had gone to.

He looked high up in the sky and instead of seeing birds and clouds and feel the cool breeze on his face, all he could see was buildings and skyscrapers and only feel smog and smoke in his eyes. Where had his family gone? Didn’t they even realize he was gone? Tears formed in his eyes at the thought he may not see them again.

He continued to walk, hoping to see some sign of them. A stranger he didn’t know stopped. “Are you lost, sweetie?” Not knowing who this lady was, he just looked up at her with his big brown eyes. “I’ve got some crackers. Are you hungry?” He was hungry but wasn’t sure if he should accept something from someone he didn’t know. Tentatively, he took the cracker and ate it.

All of a sudden, he heard his name. “Max!”

He turned around in time to see Koty running towards him. “Max! There you are, boy! We’ve been looking all over for you! We’re getting ready to go home. Come on, boy! Let’s go to the car.”

Max was so excited, he started jumping all over Koty and licking his face. He knew his family would find him.
