Write Director The Block Party Special Staff Profile – wayfarerjon A. K. A. - John New Content Provider, The Block Party Devotions Department Staff profile prepared by the_little_one for The Academy News You may have seen him around, upholding the position of content provider each week within the Academy Block Party "Devotions", but did you know that John is also a very talented writer, photographer, and painter? John is a happily married man, who calls a small coastal village in Cornwall, England home. John’s expression during his school years was stifled. He was not privy to formal training in writing during these early years, but now feels a driving need to say something about life. Drawing from the lessons learned through the trials, pains, joys, beauty, intimacy, and memories of his life, his work usually contains themes concerning an experience, a person, or event which has impacted his life significntly in some way. A Christian, John's writing usually has a spiritual content of some form or other. This content is uniquely designed and constructed, so be prepared for some surprises in its presentation. John’s work reflects a broad spectrum of interests including his loving wife and family, five marvelous grandchildren, a love of God’s wonderful creations surrounding his world, and finding his way through the recovery of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) to his love of writing. John’s writing experience used to be confined to business and technical reports. It was only after retirement that he discovered daily personal journaling to be extremely helpful in writing expression. Joining Writing.com gave John his first taste of public exposure and has helped him tremendously in developing his writing skills. It has been a little over a year now since John stumbled upon Writing.com. Hesitantly, he took advantage of his free trial membership. With the help of a very supportive wife, family and John’s Christian faith, he began capturing his love of short stories in such pieces as Invalid Item the_little_one Staff Interview with raeni New Content Provider, The Block Party Interview conducted by -lostdreams TAN: What are your tasks with relation to The Block? What areas do you provide content for? Currently, I provide content for Teen Gamers, Science Fiction, Health and Teen Support TAN: I think it would be nice to get some information about you...what would you like to share about yourself for others within the Academy and WDC? I'm Elizabeth's daughter. Her handle was Breakingfree and she used to teach at the academy. I'm 13, love creating things in general and I do graphics as well as videos, paint, draw and write. I write mainly for the very young children and I do my own illustrations for those stories. I also do poetry and short stories, but my favorite is writing for the very young child. I also write poetry for the teens and young adults too. TAN: Would you share with us how, at age 13, you've come to WDC and the Academy? My mother is why I came here. She loved this community before she got sick and she's a published author. She has a book thats on Amazon.com-Poseidon's Bride. She taught me to love creating. I came to the academy when I was asked by Miss Deb. She knew my mother and is like a grandmother to me. TAN: Is there anything you'd like to say or pass along to other young people? Follow the passion that your heart holds. It will lead to the right path. Just remember that kindness, compassion, and acceptance of others far outweigh any personal goals. Don't hurt someone else for spite or gain because that only comes back to hurt you more. TAN: What about to adults who may be skeptical of such a young person like yourself? I may not always do it perfectly, but I do try to learn along the way. Instead of telling me I'm too young, show me how to improve as the generations that follow you build the future. If you really want to change the world, encourage someone younger, teach them the right way, share with them what you know. TAN: You have some wonderful pieces of writing! How did you discover you enjoyed writing and creating graphics so much? My mother, Elizabeth, gets credit for helping me learn to love the creating of graphics and writing. She taught me literally everything I know and I've taken that and tried my own spin to create and find my style and voice. TAN: What might your future aspirations be with regard to WDC and The Academy? This is something my mother loved and I do as well. I would like to grow with both the site and the academy. I would like one day to be able to take over teaching the class that my mother started--Pondering Poetry. Her lessons for that are well above my current level, but one day I hope to be good enough at poetry to finish what she started. raeni, thank you for taking the time to answer our questions for this excellent interview. We appreciate your efforts on behalf of all the Academy members. Take care!! See you around the Academy and the Block -lostdreams Proudly presented by ** #1294451 Not An Image ** Return to the Front Page here:The Academy News
