Each edition will highlight personal success stories of our various members.   OUR PROUD A-1 WRITING ACADEMY SUCCESS STORIES   Our members improve their writing skills within our Academy. This is just one example of how our members, partnered with the Academy, succeed in becoming better writers. As told by: “An A-1Testimonial” "I logged on this evening to find a beautiful First Place Purple Awardicon attached to my poem, 'Indecent Proposal' in Geja's Poetry Contest." ~ Wistful Rune ~ "Thank You A-1 Academy! I am honored by the professional courtesy, personal attention and encouragement I consistently receive from Deb Owens and her staff. The staff and administrators, a number of whom are published writers of poetry and prose, offer challenging courses with detailed, interactive feedback, and treat me as a fellow writer, a peer. "When my muse is being persnickety, there’s some splendid entertainment, along with meticulously researched resources, to get the creative flow back on track. I will be a published writer ~ in large part thanks to the truly wonderful people at A-1 Academy! Thank You!” Our members become recognized on Writing.Com. This is just one example of how our members, partnered with the Academy, succeed on the site. As told by:  “An A-1Testimonial” "I grew up as an Artist before becoming fully active here at WDC in February 2007. Since then, a dream I never thought possible, happened. For several years, I've wanted to illustrate children's stories. Last year, I was given that opportunity for another author. During my research for him, I discovered WDC. "I had WDC in my favourites and when the author announced he was moving away, I pondered the idea of illustrating my own stories. I made a decision and pulled out the WDC link, checked out the site and here I am! "With the help of all my new friends and teachers at the Academy, Budroe is Blessed!   , debbieday, and of course, Flip~is back  -- each have made my time here priceless. "Their love of writing, compassion, knowledge, skills and friendship has helped me discover a passion I didn't know I had. Everything in my port would never have been created without their help, support and guidance. Thank you A-1 Academy and fellow members. I have dreams and goals I know I can reach." Our members make their mark in the publishing industry. This is just one example of how our members, partnered with our Academy, succeed in the writing world. As told by: “An A-1Testimonial” "A bit more than one year ago, the founder of A-1, Deb, inspired me to explore the possibility of writing for our local newspaper. It is a Gannett publication with ties to other area Gannett papers. I contacted the community editor locally to inquire about the possibility of providing them with a weekly column. She went for it and I’ve been a freelancer there ever since. "Many of my articles have been reprinted by other Wisconsin papers. Since I began, I also purchased a good digital camera and I now submit at least one photograph with each article. Currently the paper pays me $25.00 for each column, $30.00 for a feature article, $5.00 for each photo, and $5.00 extra for any out-of-town article. "Some of my recent articles can be found by going to the Marshfield News Herald website and searching there for “Barbara Mahler” or googling “Barbara Mahler Marshfield News Herald.” Our members make a difference in their communities. This is just one example of how our members, partnered with the Academy, succeed in making contributions to their communities. As told by: “An A-1Testimonial” "I joined Writing.com in 2005, but I was looking for a place to learn. I wrote a poem in October 2006, so I looked at WDC again. I posted my poem, found a group, a contest and completed eighteen poems. However, it was in January 2007, that I found the A-1 Academy, and it changed the way I saw and used WDC. "Thanks to A-1 my port has grown from eighteen poems and stories, to over eighty and most of them have been prompted by my lessons here at A-1. The growth has been in quantity, but most of all in the quality of my work through the feedback of the instructors and classmates. "Because of the classes and the encouragement, my confidence grew enough that when our local National Guard Unit was called up for deployment and our Family Readiness Group was formed, I became the reporter, editor, and publisher of the newsletter for the Unit, as well as the webmaster for www.waterdawgs1387.com. "I cannot say enough about the wonderful classes and instructors."
