Earth on the brink

Warnings

In the pounding of a frothy surf
where water meets the land,
in the rhythms of our Mother Earth,
we begin to understand.

Blessed are endangered whales
and forests lush and green,
sacred streams along the trails
and deer so strong and lean.

Hear the thunder in the canyons,
raging rivers flowing free,
and the hooves of mustang stallions,
some things just have to be.

In the magic of a falling star
moonbeams come to play,
miracles witnessed from afar
by dreamers of the day.

The changes that are happening
on a scale that is grand,
now have us finally asking
if nature needs a hand?

We've taken plenty over time,
not always keeping track
and now we see the awful crime,
we should have paid her back.

So as the polar ice is thawing
and beaches disappear,
all the warnings and the stalling
can't stop what now is here.
