Herding Cats…
You’ve called a meeting for the staff To brainstorm a new plan. Apparently, you did not know Your troubles then began. The group comes in the meeting room And gathers into cliques. As they arrive, you wait to see Which corner each one picks. You start them off with pros and cons, The topic to discuss But soon the bickering begins And they begin to fuss. “We always do the same old thing; But, HERE’S a new technique.” “No, no!” another one calls out. “Absurd!” is their critique. From any type of group debate, Decisions must be made. Despite attempts at equity, Someone will feel betrayed. You’ll always hear a snide remark, “I know why he chose THAT! She’s young and thin with shapely legs And I’m just short and fat.” It doesn’t matter what it is, A business or a club, If everyone can’t be the best, Someone will feel a snub. Yes, some will yowl and some will howl And some will spit and hiss. Why does it seem, when herding cats, It always ends like this? 8-6-8-6 a-b-c-b 7-29-07
