The Telling
Herein lies the truth, suffering loss still stings my mind.

Herein lies the truth:
Aside from contradiction.
Suffering loss still stings my mind,
Ever painful for expression.

A son lost to violent death
Brings unanswered questions.
What caused the severe blow to his head?
Leaving no closure for my frustration.

Harboring guilt over setting him free
From life support machines,
Only adds to buried feelings
Parental duty carried to extreme.

Never wiping away intense painful scenes.
Nor, silencing horrific background noises
Coming from the coroners office
Controlling screams to keep my poise.

Cause of death left undetermined.
Inked not just across legal documents,
Etched its mark upon my heart:
Was it murder or an accident?

Unsolved facts surrounding his death
Come back to forever haunt me,
Making it harder for me to let go,
Allowing pain and sorrow to flee.
