We both removed our roses
From the pins in our lapels Sighed, shrugged and rolled our eyes Watching the petals as they fell "Fancy a pint, then?" she resigned "Why not," I half replied And we both raised a glass to True Romance I knew that I had gone too far Listing me as TDH When I stated sense of humour It was her mistake to make "So hows the altitude down there?" She asked, stealing my peanuts And we both raised a glass to True Romance WLTM a carefree soul Of youth, beauty and grace Yet here I sat with Monica Nuts and beer crammed in her face "Never mind me - how's Miss USA?" She dug her heel into my trainer And we both raised a glass to True Romance My stomach crunched, I watched her tear It shouldn't be this way We both had lied and tried to cheat The bed in which we lay "Come on, let's go and just pretend That neither of us did this." And we both drained a glass to True Romance TDH - Tall Dark and Handsome WLTM - Would love To Meet
