A Storm Never Lasts
Written for Round 14 of the Kansaspoet Contest

Although it doesn’t seem so at the time
a storm never lasts
eventually the rain must stop,
the lightning and thunder must cease
and the clouds roll past.

This is the way of storms
and of difficulties;
just when it seems
the soul can take no more,
when it appears the spirit will give in to the terror,
curl up in the fetal possession and die,
the sun comes shining through.
