To be a friend means never using someone else your advantage

realizing that the relationship is a bond above average

to keep a friend means being a shoulder to cry on even at unreasonable times like 5 in the morning

yeah you can stand under my umbrella but even if neither of us had one would you be there even though its pouring

to be a friend means never pretending never acting like your ashamed to be noticed while in their prescence

to keep a friend means everytime it gets hard you can't run for the exit

you can't be friend just because you know my name you have to know my life

you have razor sharp witt but you'd never use it to cut me like a knife

even friends need to hear i love ya sometimes

some fall to the wayside some friendships do and yet some still continue to rise

to be a freind treat me as your ace not just another face in the crowd

not just somebody you need for money in small or large amounts

to keep a friend damn could you at least pick up the phone somtime when you have a minute

sometimes being a friend doesn't mean lying for them its just some things you forget to mention

to be a friend you can't always tell me what i want to hear

to keep a friend don't let me take that last drink and drive or you might be visiting me at the grave once or twice a year in tears

to be a friend just be there when i need you

to keep a friend make me keep you
