Kay’s Cuisine

The fare last night at Kay’s was wonderful
She offered shaved taco…it’s a favorite of mine
Was it a coincidence that it was fully prepared
before I arrived?
Only she knows
But once I saw it
and realized how hard she’d worked getting it just right
I had to taste it…but first…
Any connoisseur knows there’s more to admire than flavor
if one wishes to truly appreciate such a gourmet dish
Visually, it was carefully pared and
set into the platter laid before me
The shells seemed to open themselves
beckoning me to sample the delicacy they enveloped
My senses stirred
Leaning closer, the aroma caused my mouth to water
and made the blood rush here and there in my body
I felt as if I were starving
Beginning with a small portion
I tested the seasoning…delectable
My hunger overwhelmed me and I fed, ravenously
Dismissing all etiquette
Pausing only to present Kay an occasional taste
of her entry
When I pushed myself away from the platter
and verbally complimented the presentation, fragrance, and flavor
Kay only blushed
like the old-fashioned maiden she is
and said she was glad I enjoyed it…too
Before I departed
she invited me to dine with her again on Sunday
I’m excited just thinking of it
We’ll be enjoying shaved clam…
