The Girl with Silver Bracelets
What does an old mermaid require but a pocketful of air, a bowl of seaweed soup, and to always be the girl of the silver bracelets, a clinking armful capturing the light for an instant then letting go into rainbows. Author's Note: I definitely "borrowed" the final image from Elizabeth Bishop's poem The Fish---might as well imitate the great poets! I am working on a series of poems using the concept of an old mermaid. Written for:
