Alone
On being alone in a relationship,or being sudddenly bereft.

Suddenly, inexplicably alone,
I have explored the abyss of despair
thru' the tortuous pathway of confused reasoning,
lit only by the dim light of disappointment.

I have waded in the spring of tears
seeking its fleeting relief,
only to shiver,
exposed to the relentless wind of logic.

Still, driven by a stubborn faith,
I stumble towards a horizon that recedes before me,
a weary automaton -
my mind detachedly wonders,
When...
If...
Your helping hand appears over that flat line,
whether I shall be suddenly galvanized to life -
by gratefully clasping your hand,
or by determinedly putting it aside,
and finding a way out,
alone,
and whole!
