Seeking a Higher Meaning
A philosophical poem about life, in general.

I must fall ever so speedily, from atop the majestic
Blue sky, into God’s layers of wispy clouds.
One must proceed to fall if one is to reach the zenith.
Succumb, in order to realize the ultimate glory.

The vast, inescapable universe is filled with stars
And gases, an infinite pageant of living creatures
And inanimate voids. Light journeys millions of years
To reach our planet, while billions of creatures remain
Tethered to the ground of the Earth, our host.  Even our
Oceans contain numerous mysteries, yet unsolved.
However, Mother Earth has never yet escaped our search
For higher meaning, and for human beings,
This search is everything…

Hounds will forever chase the wily and intrepid fox,
While sporting men monitor the roundabout challenge
Of trapping their wise prey. The fox is mostly invulnerable,
Leading them nowhere, then disappearing – for there is a
Higher power embracing humanity’s quest for distinction:
An accountability to chance. Knowing later is
Far better than never knowing – Wisdom is the key…
