A Collection of Short Poems

LOVE DEFINES US
And without definition,
         we grope through the shadows, never touching.

BETRAYAL
Over and over,
         my trust was betrayed.
Know him?  I don’t,
         and I don’t think I ever did.

SLEEPLESS
Cannot sleep.
Have lain awake for hours.
I notice Jorge is wearing clothes to bed,
         and not pajamas.

FACING THE SADNESS
Facing the sadness ---
         the hopelessness ---
         the absence,
increases the despair…
Seems to be focusing on the negative;
Maybe that is all that is there.

FACING THE TRUTH
I am sad,
yet glad it is over.
For so long, hoping…
As they say, love is blind.

My decline started with desire.
         I allowed the seduction.
Then started the battle between
my flesh and my heart,
         my flesh and my mind,
         my mind and my heart.

Desire clouded my vision,
         broke my focus.
I saw what I wanted to see.
I heard what I wanted to hear.
I felt what I wanted to feel.
I turned my back on the truth.

Forced to face the truth…
Now, the truth
         supersedes my flesh,
heart,
mind.
I embrace the truth ----
         and the pain, sorrow and lies fall behind


POETRY:
The words that come without fanfare.
They fall down on the page
         without structure;
And yet when combined, become one
         intriguing tale.
