The Sign
A not so nice poem about my hometown.

There is a stonepost sign
on the outskirts of a small Kansas town.
Says something about it being
the "Barbed Wire Capitol of the World."

Yeah, like anyone cares.
If it were up to me
that sign would read
"Individuality isn't prized here."

The local high school teaches nothing.
Except for drinking and sex.
Every year another girl is prengnat.
Breeding more and more of the same.

It makes me sick.
Maybe badass in football
But not real badass in anything else.
Except maybe for gossip.

Anyone who is smart runs away.
18 years is enough of small town hell.
Some of us want more than
a stonepost sign on the outskirts of town.
