Greetings!
I guess you can tell by my name, (ReikiDreamer) that I practice the art of Reiki. For those of you that don't know much about Reiki ( I didn't until my mom dragged me to a class) let me give you the brief description of this beautiful art. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." Many people wonder what a treatment feels like. It's a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no creeds, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it. That being said, after a year of intense training and personal treatments I became a Reiki Master. What that means is that I can now teach Reiki and pass on the atunements to others that help them receive and open their gifts. I look at Reiki a lot like someone that practices yoga. It's a wonderful way to relax and heal your body through natural means. Reiki has completely changed my life. I'm on a different path now than I was a few years ago. Reiki teaches patience, acceptance and forgiveness of self and others. I can't begin to describe to you how wonderful that feels! To finally let go of all the baggage you've dragged around with you for years and years and "just be". This is by far the most special gift I've ever been given. Now, I'll try to reign myself in a bit. When I get started on the subject of Reiki, my passion for this way of life has a way of taking over. My husband and I along with our 4 kids also raise desert tortoises. They were given as a gift to me from my aunt. Believe me, you don't wake up one day and think hmmm, today I'd like to buy a tortoise! My aunt raises tortoises and after many years of this, hers have decided to become "active". They are laying eggs like crazy all over the place. Our first one was given to us about 4 years ago, his name is Trouble. His brother Cruiser was inherited by us when a very good friend of my mother passed away last year. When a recent new crop of babies arrived we got the girls Harlie and Squirtel. I have a new hatchling that I'm currently waiting for that was born prematurely, and is definitely the runt of the litter. I love the runts. I love reading and writing about fantasy. I've always been someone that reads constantly. I've usually got several books going at once. I have books stashed everywhere, in the car, my purse, my bedroom etc. For me, having to wait anywhere is a chance to read. Vampires enchant me. There is just something really magical for me in a vampire tale. Maybe it's their ability to move from century to century seamlessly. Maybe its the fact that they always seem to be rich and beautiful, strong and powerful, handsome and mystical. For all their deadness, every vampire story I've ever read displays them with such heart, such longing and promise. Each vampire tale I have read makes me wonder, what if? All my life I've loved to write. My grandmother before her passing always thought I had such a gift. She always wanted me to write something for her. She encouraged me constantly. I've always written mostly for myself. It's been years since I've tried writing anything else. I've come to realize in the past few years that I've been denying myself something very important. The gift of expressing myself on paper. Can you imagine how void my life has been without this gift of expression? My grandmother's words still ring through my ears as I remember her saying, "Someday, promise me you'll write something for me". I've suddenly felt encouraged to pick up where I left off and just write. I'm not sure if I'm talented or not. I'm not sure if I have a special gift or not. But what I am sure of is that my grandmother thought so. She had more belief in me than I will ever have in myself. I realize now that I have to write, it's part of who I am, who I have been and who I will become. So that's what a ReikiDreamer is. Someone that pursues her passions even when she isn't sure the rest of the world is ready to hear or read them. A ReikiDreamer is someone that loves passionately and whole heartedly without reservation. I am driven to becoming the person my grandmother always thought I was, and who I've always wanted to be. Dream passionately my friend and live for today. Remember that none of us are promised tomorrow. I once read something very special. "Make sure that you are doing today that which you really want to be doing, because you are giving up one day of your life for it." Anonymous ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **
