Spring
Pimpernel, parsley, buttercup, rue Shades of white, pink, yellow and blue, Mayflower in hedgerow, elder there too Frothy white petticoats nature doth show. Candles on chestnuts shine through the leaves Birds building nests in latter years’ sheaves Elder and lilac perfume the breeze From flower to flower the bumble bee weaves Poppy peeks out, she sure isn’t shy Soon she’ll be dancing in fields full of rye Swallows and swifts swoop ‘cross the sky As little Miss Butterfly flutters on by.
