Hope Dies
The loss of hope in love

Hope Dies

Hope dies a slow and bitter death
As time ticks by so endlessly,
Whilst waiting for just one more chance
To turn things back to what once was.

You know inside t’will never be,
But still your stubborn heart
Hangs on to every tender smile,
Each word that falls from gentle lips.

Those hours of joy are now long gone
When all your days flew by,
With looks of gentle lovingness
And hugs that stole your heart away.

But still your mind will not let go
Of the hope that burns inside,
That maybe one day, very soon
He’ll make your world come right.
