The official newspaper of the A-1 Writing Academy

When you speak to us, we listen!

This page is for our Editors to comment, or to respond to the letters you have sent us. We believe in the strength of honest public debate, and feel that one of the most endangered activities among humans today is the simple lack of discussion. This page is designed to create, and promote that discussion among those topics we feel, or you feel are important enough to be debated. But, they will be debated honestly, and openly.

It is perfectly permissible in society to disagree without becoming disagreeable. We intend to prove that right here, on this page. We look forward to your feedback, and will respond to you here.

Feedback on our Premiere Edition of "The Academy News"

This page is not long enough to put in all of the tremendous feedback we have been given so far (only three days!) regarding the Premiere Edition. We wish to thank our subscribers for their valued feedback and support. Here is a sampling of what you have to say:

"This is such a cute idea! I'm going to enroll now. I love how you thought this up, especially to mentor other writers.

I found nothing wrong with this item. In fact it is perfect, even the idea is perfect.

Good luck to you!"

"The Academy News. What a breath of fresh air, its great to have a newspaper to read that does not contain any sex or violence,"

Feather September 3, 2007

"Very informative, great format. I really enjoyed the 'hummingbird' facts, and it makes a great mascot. Good job!"

Charles the *C* September 2, 2007

"Great layout - this newsletter is very well put together!

The StoryMaster September 2, 2007

IS TOO STRESSED TO WRITE September 2, 2007

"Just wanted to drop a line and say that the Academy News looks AWESOME and is thoroughly well-put together. I was expecting to see a newsletter-type thing and this is so much more! Great work! (I wasn't sure who all was involved, so you can forward this to them if you like.)

Gorgeous work. Thanks!"

Raven September 2, 2007

" I read every page, and it was a pleasure. This is an awesome idea. Its rough to know I have to wait a whole 3 months for the next one! Very cool."

And this:

"I would like to see Ms. Char interviewed. As Ms. Deb pointed out in her own interview, Ms. Char has had a huge role in A1 Academy. Much of her work was behind the scenes, however, and it would be very interesting to hear her thoughts and impressions of A1 and the changes it is going through, as well as what she sees in the future for the school."

The Editor Responds:
Thank you for a superb recommendation, Sheri. Stay tuned! *Bigsmile*

*Bigsmile*And this:

"This was an awesome interview. Thank you Ms. Deb for being so thorough in your answers. It seems to give all the changes a bit of foundation now that I know how they happened and what you think of them.

Not only did it give me the opportunity to learn a little more of Ms. Deborah and her heart for A1, it also underscored the changes occurring and the opportunities available through the academy.

I really enjoyed reading this article. This newsletter is so informative and well presented. Thank you!"

Sheri Lynn

The Editor Responds:

I believe she DID read every page! *Bigsmile* And we are so glad she did!

"WELL DONE! No more to say, I cant wait for the next edition! "

The Editor Responds: The above were this member's very kind summary comments in our first-ever WDC review. She had a concern about the color and appearance of our Front Page:

"But I do have one suggestion: The colour. This is my personal POV, but the lack of colour seems to make it look a bit dull and boring. Perhaps some notes in colour-outlined boxes here and there, or some topic headers in a dignified colour that would suit the layout.

I do understand that this is a very professional newspaper, and I am certainly not suggesting an extravagant cocktail colours; but a little perking-up would reel-in more readers."

~6jeans~ September 2, 2007 (4.5 Rating)

The Editor Responds:

Thank you for our first review, 6jeans. Our Graphics Artists and Webpage team will give your honest conerns their personal attention. We appreciate your candor, and invite all comments and reviews. This is the only way we know of our success in meeting our goals. I think it is safe to say that color will be among our considerations as we continue to develop our newspaper.

On a related note:

Our Web Designer, Ladyoz informs me that the colors selected for the Front Page were carefully matched and "lifted" (I know not what that means...Smile) from an early 1860's copy of "The New York Times". I think she called it "Newsprint Pink"!

Personally, I think that's cool! *Bigsmile*

There you have it, one of the first trivia questions for our newspaper!

We thank each of you listed here, who represent the many kind words of encouragement and support for our Premiere Issue. Our work here is "paying it forward" for the Academy we all love. It is our distinct honor to be the official newspaper of The A-1 Writing Academy. It is an opportunity and an obligation we cherish.

Until next time,

Write Well!
