So Many Authors, Where are the Writers?

Don’t pick up your stones yet – hear me out.  First of all, I am not speaking of any participants connected with any writing associations.  And, not those who have the “gift” to write or worked and developed their craft; they are exempt.  And, the reason I excuse these groups is because we are aspiring writers or true writers.  I am speaking of those whose books or writings I have purchased and/or attempted to read – however, the structure: contextual; grammatical; or, intelligibility was grossly lacking and this actually aided in my delay to venture into this arena, writing, which is truly a passion of mine.

There used to be a time when writings went through proofreaders and editors.  Now, to be published all you need is the money to do so. I challenge all of us writers and aspiring writers to return to the “old paths.”  Resist the temptation to be published by any means possible.  Utilize the writing community; the writing masters and the writing tools that have been made available to us. Let’s show ourselves approved and worthy of the calling, Writer.

Now, I must inform us – we must, it is imperative that we become tough-skinned when it comes to developing this coveted skill, writing.  This is the foundational instruction I feel privileged to have to build upon – that is,  as any artistic work it is never complete and can always be improved. However you have to know when to stop or it will never be published.  For this reason, I give little to no fives when I review and rate.  And, some of you may not like what I am about to say; don’t be a hater.  If I cannot give an honest review that would be considered kind – I do not rate it at all. However, I do pray that there is someone who can and will give an honest and kind review to meet the aspiring writers at the point of our need. We all have strengths; let’s rate from our strengths and if a good number of us will commit to do that… We can accomplish the mission of this writing society and most importantly our personal goals.

Again- I say to all of us, develop tough-skin; receive the critiques, do your research, and do  your homework - put time into learning the mechanics of writing.  Although, I joined this writing community in August 2006, I just made a commitment to my writing and to this writing community mid-August this year.  And, I am trying to redeem the time. Please give me the honest truth if you choose to review my writings. I will do the same for you; and may we grow to be the Writers we were called to be. Writers come forth.

Now, if you need to throw a stone or two – it’s okay. Just keep writing! Smile
