weathercaster's promise
can they truly be believed?

This item has no ratings.
early morning fog, suburban syrup
the buildings across the way
resemble concrete pancakes
balancing invisible seconds of time
between memories of sweaty seaside
and the advent of schoolbook boredom
all bathed in this year’s rainy reality

weathercasters promise sunshine
today, that was their refrain yesterday
last week, even last month
mother nature has become a magician
of bad unpredictable surprises
this summer, repeating gloomy
dismalness over high-rise horizons
without reflecting sunsets in suburban glass
but something sweet in the air tells me
that today’s warmth will not be found
in extra cotton sweaters, socks and jeans
but a few miraculous rays of late summer
sunshine and three days of early Indian summer
before the next unexpectedly prolonged downpour

weathercasters’ promise
