"we shall overcome"
can we acquire enough personal strength so that success can happen?

mediocre
colors, images, photos
love, life, friends
rhymes and meter
why bother?

we clash, we combat, we smash
never truly conquering our reckless self-appraisal
mommy dearest strives to maintain her vice-like embrace
convincing us that it is impossible
to sail, to hope or to succeed

of course we worry
write sonnets in proper pentameter
desiring, existing, befriending
creating palettes of imagination and dreams
which are never simply mediocre
yes, triumph is our reward
