Silent Song
I felt your breath just sigh upon my face, as wordless songs drift from my coffee mug. Your absence sings like some hypnotic drug, with images I simply can't erase. Amid the blackness, clinging to half dreams, your empty pillow suffocates my tears, but cannot soothe this haunting in my ears — your whispered song amidst my silent screams. Among the many things you left behind — a dying plant, a photo torn apart, your dried-up muddy footprints and spare key, in everything your essence is entwined. Maliciously, while slashing at my heart, your silent song is slowly killing me. (Envelope Sonnet — abba cddc efgefg rhyme scheme in Iambic pentemeter)
