SEHRA
A toast to AAMIR the groom Urdu: Yeh jo AAMIR kay saja aaj hay rukh par sehra Aisa dekha hay kisi nay koie dilbar sehra English:=== The sehra of AAMIR that hides his face Unmatched it is in beauty and grace - Urdu: Aisi shohrat hoie aalam maen keh mehmaan bun kar Dekhnay aatay haen imshab meh o akhtar sehra English:=== It shines and shines like stars and moon And makes the night look more like noon - Urdu: SHAKIRA hee ki zaban shukr say shreen na hoi NOOR ki chashm bhee karta hay mannawer sehra English:=== Look SHAKKO, armed with all her might Resist she cannot this sheer delight And NOOR who fills the world with light Says sehra makes her shine more bright - Urdu: Ban gaya apni darrakhshani o rakhshani say SHAH sahib kay liay bhee dur o johar sehra English:=== The fragrance of sehra, it does when blow Makes eyes of SHAH like diamonds glow - Urdu: Dilkashi aisi OMAR kay bhee liay hay is maen Karta jarrahi e dil hay yeh sarasar sehra English:=== And OMAR, the surgeon, with all his skill Can cut not out from heart the thrill - Urdu: Yoon saji aaj urus e sukhan e SHAIDA hay Keh bana husn ka hay us kay yeh zaevar sehra English:=== And lo! how SHAIDA with infinite pride Adorned has he his poetry's bride ====== KEY: SEHRA: a veil of flowers that covers the face of the bride and the groom during wedding ceremony. Also a toast to the groom AAMIR: the groom, a heart surgeon in Toledo SHAKKO: Shakira Shah, the mother of the groom. Her name means: one who gives thanks NOOR: the bride. Her name mean light SHAH: Ahmad Sayed Shah, the father of the groom. His name means king OMAR; the brother of the groom, another heart surgeon SHAIDA: an uncle of the groom, the author of sehra. His nome means mad lover
