The "Boy inside the Man" Poem
Life is hard. The road is rough. You must be more than tough. You can't lose yourself.

From the day that I was born,
Had the whole world in my hands.
I was young and I was strong.
Knew I had to make a stand.
Thought I was never wrong.
A most ambitious plan.
Whatever happened to the boy in the man?

From the day that I left home,
I was out to see my bridges burn.
I could take this world alone.
And I never wanted to return.
The world was mine to own.
I really did not understand.
Whatever happened to the boy in the man?

The boy inside the man,
Like a dream long ago.
The boy inside the man,
Couldn’t let my pride go.
The boy inside the man,
Was yesterday.
Now all I am,
Are dreams torn away.

I could drink and I could fight.
Always took the bull by the horns.
Tried to live with all my might,
So I never felt the rose’s thorns.
Thought I was always right.
And catch me if you can.
Whatever happened to the boy in the man?

Now the man just goes on searching.
But it don’t do no good.
You’ll never find your wealth,
When you’re fighting yourself.
I tried to make my stand.
Life deals a wicked hand.
Tell me what happened, where’s the boy in the man?

The boy inside the man,
Like a dream long ago.
The boy inside the man,
Couldn’t let my pride go.
The boy inside the man,
Was yesterday.
Now all I am,
Are dreams torn away.

Whatever happened to the boy in the man?
