A short poem reflecting on a summer romance

October
The night's light haze beckons
the cold air is blue
as branches hold their
withered parchments
for the moon's introspection
I sought you
but your heart lies
in the fever of tropics
and your moon
illuminates a dark canvas
as palm fronds hiss
sweeping trade winds
as distant as your heart
