Insomnia

Lying here in bed
Things are running through my head
For instance what will I do?
If I wake up dead?

If I don’t find true love?
What will happen to me?
All these bad thoughts start me
Feeling kind of gloomy

And I wonder why
My mind saves terribles
Until the night
And I wonder why
I have bad dreams
During the night
And I try and try to figure it out
With all my might

How come there is pain?
Why do people hurt?
Why do I sleep in clean sheets?
While others just have dirt?

What if I can’t fix them?
Will they always be this broken?
If I give them kind words
Will they notice I have spoken?

And I wonder why
My mind saves terribles
Until the night
And I wonder why
I have bad dreams
During the night
And I try and try to figure it out
With all my might

But I just can not
Puzzle this out
So I’m awake until it’s light
Today I’ll find more things to keep
Me awake tonight
