WHAT IS
(the color of silence)

The secrets I keep are
Hidden bruises and broken bones
Eyes covered concealing scars

Constant anger and abuse
Others will never see
Letting myself have hope
Often wanting death to come
Revealing truth to no one

Only one thing left to do
Finally I see the way
Silently waiting in fear
I am ready now
Listening for footsteps
Every heartbeat echoes
Nearer, nearer he comes
Can't stop, red flows forth
Everything over, freedom comes.
