Flair For Writing Halloween Newsletter 2007
Editor: Megan Rose Princess Megan Bella Rose
Assistant Editor: Angel Angel

Greetings Everyone! Wow! It will soon be Halloween! Megan and Angel here. How is everyone? Angel is busy with her beautiful art work and she has made me several sigs and images for my novel Contessa's Healing Touch here at Writing. I know we don't do newsletters like we used to but we are running out of ideas but we always do a Halloween and two Christmas Newsletters. Are you ready for Halloween? The colors are changing on the trees to orange and beautiful colors. Angel and I love this time of year. I have my pumpkins out and my husband and I live in the country. Life is quiet here. So, are you ready for this year's Halloween Newsletter? I have some ghost stories for you and Angel and I have apple cider in the couldron and donuts and candy in the Halloween dishes. Johnny Mac has a Halloween poem that he wrote. It is always a pleasure to hear from Johnny. Angel and I adore him. Let's start the newsletter. Are you ready ready for a haunting!

First, let's go to Wheatland, Indiana. I live in Indiana but I am not sure how far Wheatland is but something happened there years ago in the late 1890's. There is a Headless Horse Woman Ghost there. You read this right! It is like Sleepy Hollow but this is supposedly a true story. A teen-age woman named Lucy was a beautiful red head and she loved to ride her horse all the time. Her father would get so mad when ever Lucy took off to be with her friends. She neglected her chores and loved to be rebellious. When she made plans on a Saturday night to be with friends, her father yelled at her and told her that she wasn't allowed to go out on a Saturday night because Saturday nights was family time. She told her father that she was going out and he couldn't stop her. He told her not to bother coming back. He and the family were through with her. Lucy said that was fine with her and left. Lucy decided to come home early to apologize to her family but it was storming and she rode her horse too fast through the woods. It is believed that a giant powerful limb fell on her neck and severed her head off her body. The horse came home without her and Lucy's family went out to look for her. They found her body and head was a few feet away. The father was heartbroken and regretted the bitter words that had been spoken between him and his daughter. The family buried her body and her head together. On stormy nights in this area, it is rumored that you will hear hoof beats with a horse galloping towards you and a woman's body with no head will be coming towards you. Lucy rides again! Maybe she is looking for her head? If I lived close by, I would be scared to death!

Closer to home in Plymouth, Indiana there was an old barn that was built in the late 1800's. The barn was converted to a restaurant about 1970. It was named "The Hayloft." It was a nice place. The workers claimed to see a man in Bib Overalls with no feet! He would appear and leave. Once he rattled the dishes. Other employees saw him and said he had no feet! {Like in Married With Children when Peggy had dreams of Al with no feet?} Homer was the man who owned the farm back in the early 1900's and he died of a heart attack in his barn. So, this was the ghost of Homer. He never hurt anyone. Sadly, the barn burned down three years ago. Wonder why Homer didn't save it? Something was wrong with the oven. The present owner rebuilt a red barn that is smaller but he never make it back into a restaurant. It is a new red barn. I don't know if Homer visits anymore or not. I haven't heard. Probably not since it is now a rebuilt modern barn. I drive pass this barn on the way to and home from work. I was in the old barn restaurant once with college friends. Did I see Homer? Sadly, no.

Here is another ghost story. Asheville, North Carolina. Helen's Bridge was torn down and rebuilt when the Zalandia Castle got on fire and burned down. Helen lost her only child, a daughter. Helen hung herself from the bridge down the road from the castle. On Halloween night, others are challenged to try and conjure her up. If you call her succesfully, she will mess up your car and you won't be able to get back down the mountain.I don't think I will be going there any time soon.

This story gives me chills. A woman I know and work with had a dream that she went under ground and saw a beautiful palace made out of gold. There was cherry wood furniture, fancy decorations and a neat swimming pool outside. Men were dressed in black tuxes and were quite handsome. She realiazed that they were vampires. She woke up and thought it was a dream. She went to a bar two weeks later and a man dressed like the men in her dreams sat beside her and said: "You know don't you? You have been to our special place and we would love for you to come back and spend time or even live with us." She said that she got so scared that she ran out of the bar in a hurry! Alright. There is a story here and I hope to write one for this. How about you?

Now as promised, a poem by Johnny_mac mine and Angel's friend.

Spooky Halloween

Halloween, spooky and frightening,
Lots of free goodies without really trying.

Witches and monsters are roaming around.
Casting terrible shadows right there on the ground.

Razor sharp teeth seeming waiting to pounce.
You walking around as scared as a mouse.

Jack-O-Lantern in his bright orange coat.
Being so spooky, he's making you choke.

Then out of the brushes all covered in white,
A very large person you think came for a fight.

But then a laugh that you've heard times before,
It is only the neighbor from next door.

Then Mom and Dad enter, the jolly affray,
Laughing and growling on this special day.

And hand in hand you stroll down the street,
Searching together for some very sweet sweets.

And when it is all over you take off your disguise.
Only to find a real monster who then runs and hides.
Spooky Halloween
You bet!

Thanks, Johnny. This is a cute, neat poem.

Here are two poems from members here. We do hope you will read them. They are nicely written.
