Paint the Walls
A short poem about suicide, not about actual painting

The hammer comes down
a spark
a flash
hot lead rushes
and flattens with impact

Skull fragments erupt
and spin
and twist
in the pink mist

Blood sprays in an arc
red droplets sprinkle the wall
grey matter sticks
then slides
slowly down

Acrid smoke billows
in a lazy funnel
from the hole
in my head

My arm falls
to the floor
and the gun slips
from my lifeless fingers
