English & Urdu Translation of Hafiz 3

                                              Ghazal 3


Persian:  Agar an turk e shirazi ba dast arad dil e ma ra
              Ba Khal e hinduash bakhsham Samarkand o Bukhara ra
Urdu:      Agar manzoor dil maira ho us turk e dilara ko
              Fida e khal o khud ker doun Samarkand o bukhara ko

English:=== O Turko girl, you come to me, and in my arms retire
                  And I'll give your beauty spot ol' Tamerlane's empire
                                                      -

Persian:  Badeh saqi may e baqi keh dar jannat na khahi yaft
              Kinar e aab e Ruknabad o gulgasht e Musallah ra
Urdu:      Pila Shiraz maen saqi keh jannat maen na payen gay
              Kinar e joo e Ruknabad o gulgasht e Musala ko

English;=== Oh, come to me and fill the cup, and leave the razz-ma-tazz
                  For find you will in Heaven too no garden of Shiraz
                                                      -

Persian:  Fughan kin lulian e shokh, shirinkar, sherashob
              Chunan burdand sabr az dil keh Turkan khwan e yaghma ra
Urdu:      Duhai hay keh mashooqan e shirnkar, sherashob
              Diloun ko loottay haen jaisay Turkan khwan e yaghma ko

English:=== Look as soon as they come in town the beauties there and then
                  Like Golden Horde, they plunder all the hearts and souls of men
                                                        -

Persian:  Zay ishq e natamam e ma jamal yar mustaghneest
              Ba aab o rang o khal o khat cheh hajit roo e zaiba ra
Urdu:      Hamaray ishq ki perwa karay kun husn e baepuwa
              Zaroorat aab o khal o khat ki hay kub roo e zaiba ko 

English:=== Those lovely girls are proud and rude and full of subterfuge
                  And need these dolls for lips and cheeks  no lipstick and no rouge
                                                          -

Persian:  Man az an husn e rooz afzoon keh yusuf dasht danistam
              Keh ishq az pardah e asmat baroon arad Zulekha ra
Urdu:      Malamat mat karo is ki, khata hay husn e Yusuf ki
              Kiya divanagi e shoq nay ruswa Zulekha ko

English:=== The day I saw your lovely face, my heart, my soul, my life!
                  Yes instantly I understood the case of Potiphar's wife
                                                            -

Persian:  Hadis az mutrib o may goo wa raz e dahr kamtar joo
              Keh kus nakshood o nakshayad ba hikmat in moamma ra
Urdu:      Karo mastanapun maen justajoo israr e dunya ki
              Khirad say hal naheen kartay haen aaqil is moamma ko


English:=== Come, drink and dance and be merry; enjoy your every breath
                  For solve he can't, the wise man, the puzzle of life and death
                                                              -

Persian:  Naseehat goush kun janan keh az jan doosttar darand
              Jawanan e saadatmand pand e pir e dana ra
              Naseehat sun keh aey peyaray aziz az jan rakhtay haen
              Jawanan e saadatmand pand e pi e dana ko

English:=== Look, young you are, and strong, and well, but there's a lot to know
                  So reject you not the counsel of an old and wise pro
                                                              -

Persian:  Badam gufti o khursandam, ifaak Allah niko gufti
              Jawab e talkh mezaibad lab e lal e shakarkha ra
Urdu:      Bura mujh ko kaha, khush houn, bohat achha kiya too nay
              Nawa e talkh zaiba hay lab e lal e shakarkha ko

English:=== But worry you not that the bitter words aren't so proper and hip
                  Like gems and pearls, they drop from your that lovely ruby lip
                                                              -

Persian:  Ghazal gufti o dur sufti, bia o khush bakhan HAFIZ
              Keh bar nazm e to afshanad falak aqd e surayya ra
Urdu:      Ghazal too nay kahi, moti pioay, sher parh HAFIZ
              Lutaay ga falak fun per teray aqd e surayya ko

English:=== And listen to HAFIZ, his verses are the strings of gems and pearls
                  And even the sky, on hearing him, its starry garland hurls
