English & Urdu Translation of Hafiz 4

                                              Ghazal 4


Persian:  Ba mulaziman e sultan keh rasanad in dooa ra
              Keh ba shukr e padshahi zay nazar maran gada ra
Urdu:      Kahay ja kay shah e khooban say zara koie Khudara
              Keh na ker ba shukr e shahi too faqir say kinara

English:=== To the palace guard can someone go and very humbly say
                  That the needy ones who come to you, O turn them you not away
                                                        -

Persian:  Cheh qyamat ast janan keh ba aashiqan namoodi
              Rukh e hamchu mah e taban, dil e hamchu sang e khara
Urdu:      Hay qyamat aashiqoun per keh diay haen Haq nay us ko
              Rukh e rashk e mah e taban, dil e sakht e sang e khara

English:=== A stoney heart in a bosom soft and a fair and lovely face
                  Uncommon it is a conjunction, and very rare a case
                                                          -

Persian:  Zay raqeeb e dev seerat ba Khuda hami panaham
              Magar an shahab e saqib madaday kunad Khudara
Urdu:      Us adooay dev seersat say Khuda bachaay sub ko
              Madad aey shahab e saqib meri ker too kuchh Khudara

English:=== My rivals are a crafty lot; my foes so vile and vicious
                  So help, O Lord, a hapless me, for you are so kind and gracious 
                                                          -

Persian:  Dil e aalamay basoozi, chun izar barfaroozi
              To azin cheh sood dari keh namikuni madara
Urdu:      Teray mehr e rooe taban ki naheen hay taab ham ko
              Keh jhalak say aik us ki huwa raakh dil hamara

English:=== When rouge you put on your rosy cheek, on fire you set my heart
                  And when I put my lips on it, O why do you act so tart?

Persian:  Mijzha siyahat karda ar ba khun e ma isharat
              Zay faraeb e o bayandeesh o ghalat makun nigara
Urdu:      Aey nigah e janafza too na baat maan un ki
              Jo karaen siyah mijzgan meray khun ka ishara

English:=== When on your eyes, those shiny blue, you put a little mascara
                  With just a look you instantly do kill me, O my Farah
                                                              -

Persian:  Hama shab darin umedam keh naseem e subhagahi
              Ba payam e aashnaie banawazad aashna ra
Urdu:      Raha intazar shab bhar keh naseem e subhagahi
              Ba payam e aashnaie karay shad dil hamara

English:=== I wait and wait all night long, but come you don't, my dear
                  And when I ask the reason why, a lame excuse I hear
                                                          -

Persian:  Dil e dardmand e aashiq keh zay hijr e tust purkhun
              Cheh shawad garash rasaie ba wisal e khesh yara
Urdu:      Dil e dardmand e aashiq huwa hijr maen hay khooni
              Kabhee baat us ki mano, karo ahd e wasl yara

English:=== When you're gone, my lonely heart, oh how it aches and aches
                  And when you don't come back to me, it cracks, it rends, it breaks
                                                            -

Persian:  Dil e mastamand e ma ra ba shikanj e zulf burdi
              Mashikan dil e zaefam banawaz in gada ra
Urdu:      Dil e mastamand maira jo phunsa hay gaisoun maen
              Usay kas kay youn na bandho, kar rehm kuch Khudara

English:=== And when someday you braid your hair, and make a lovely chain
                  On seeing it, my crazy heart goes only more insane
                                                          -

Persian:  Zay faraib e chshm e mastat dil e dardmand khun ast
              Nazaray bakun ba haalash but e dilruba Khudara
Urdu:      Huwa chashm e mast say yeh dil e dardmand zakhmi
              Usay ik nazar to daekho but e dilruba Khudara

English:=== The magic in those eyes of yours, oh, how it rends my heart
                  And the charming look from you, my love, does hit me like a dart
                                                            -

Persian:  Chun tabib e dardmandan lab e lal e yar bashad
              Dil e dardmand e aashiq zay keh jooyad in dawa ra
Urdu:      Dil e dardmand e aashiq ki dooa hay ger toe yeh hay
              Keh tabib e dardmandan lab e lal ho tumhara

English:=== And when I say I love your lips, me do not you disdain
                  For what I need is tiny kiss to cure me of my pain
                                                          -

Persian:  Khabaray zay haal e aashiq bar e yar baz goied
              Merasad magar zay zulfash asar musham e ma ra
Urdu:      Kiya baad e kooay janan nay hamara dil muattar
              Zara khoel ker jo us nay kabhee zulf ko sanwara

English:=== And if you send, with the morning breeze, the scent of your curly hair
                  I'll be cured of all my ills inhaling the fragrant air
                                                          -

Persian:  Ba Khuda keh jurraay deh to ba HAFIZ e saharkhaiz
              Keh dooa e subhagahi asaray kunad shuma ra
Urdu:      Ba Khuda pilao HAFIZ ko sharab e naab kuchh toe
              Keh dooaen lay kay us ki ho naseeb khush hamara

English:=== And if you bring the ruby wine, and give him a sip of it
                  Pray for you your HAFIZ will, and never complain a bit
