English & Urdu Translation of Hafiz 6

                                              Ghazal 6


Persian:  Dosh az masjid sooay maikhana aamad peer e ma
              Cheest yaraan e tareeqat baad azin tadbeer e ma
Urdu:      Aaj masjid say sooay maikhana aata peer hay
              Us ki yaraan e tareeqat is maen kya tadbeer hay

English:=== Look O mystics, the master is at the tavern's door tonight 
                  So we should also follow him, for it should be alright
                                                      -

Persian:  Dar khatabat e mughan ma neez hammanzil shawaem
              Kaan chunin raft ast dar ahd e azal taqdeer e ma
Urdu:      Ham kharabat e mughan maen peer kay hamdam banay
              Apni toe ahd e azal say bus yahi taqdeer hay

English:=== And when he sees us cups in hand he'll surely give us a nod
                  Because it is our destiny, and it is the will of God
                                                        -

Persian:  Ma mureedan roo ba sooay kaaba chun aaraem, chun
              Roo ba sooay khana e khummar darad peer e ma
Urdu:      Roo ba sooay kaaba kaisay ham mureed us kay karaen
              Khana e khummar jab qibla banata peer hay


English:=== With the master himself getting high, enjoying a merry song
                  Who then, O mystic friends, can say that we are in the wrong
                                                          -

Persian:  Aql agar danad keh dil dar band e zulfash chun khush ast
              Aaqilan divana gardand az paay zangeer e ma
Urdu:      Aql howay Aashna e aesh e band e zulf jab
              Kaisay her aaqil kay paoun maen paray zangeer hay

English:=== When the wise see our ecstacy in the chains of braided hair
                  They would also like to be in a lovely curly snare
                                                            -

Persian:  Roo e khubat aayatay az lutf bar ma kashf kard
              Zan sabab juz lutf o khoobi neest dar tafseer e ma
Urdu:      Jab say roo e yar nay di aayat e lutf o karam
              Mehrbani kay siwa kuchh bhee na aur tafseer hay

English:=== And the holy men, when they find us necking and kissing the lips
                  O they will never use their whip, and from us will take their tips 
                                                            -

Persian:  Ba dil e sangeent aaya, heech dargeerad shabay
              Aah e aatish bar o soz e nala e shabgeer e ma
Urdu:      Aah e aatish bar o soz e nala e shabgeer ki
              Sangdil per aek zarra bhee na kuchh taseer hay

English:=== The stony hearts will melt away, and lose their ugly tiff
                  And all our sighs, and moans, and groans, will pay off in a jiff
                                                            -

Persian:  Murgh e dil ra sayd e jammiat ba daam uftada boud
              Zulf bakshadi o baaz az dast shud nakhcheer e ma
Urdu:      Mutmayin tha murgh e dil phanday maen us ki zulf kay
              Khoul ker gaisoo pareshan ker diya nakhcheer hay

English:=== And happy so we all will be in the bonds of curly hair
                  That when the curls do fly in the air, our bonds will never tear
                                                            -

Persian:  Baad bar zulf e to aamad, shud jahan bar man siyah
              Neest az soda e zulfat baish azin tauqeer e ma
Urdu:      Jab hawa gaisoo e janan ko banati hay ghata
              Karti aur soda e zulf e yar ki tauqeer hay

English:=== And cover my moon like clouds they, when the curls do fly apart
                  The darkness will be the source of light, and delight the lonely heart
                                                          -

Persian:  Teer e aah e ma zay gardoun bagzarad jan e aziz
              Rehm kun bar jan e khud, perhaiz kun az teer e ma
Urdu:      Pas tairay haen kaman e abroo o teer e nazar
              Kum naheen kuchh aah bhee mairi, bala ka teer hay

English:=== And even though our sighs are like arrows flying allover
                  They hit no one, they hurt no one, they only like to hover
                                                          -

Persian:  Bar dar e maikhana khaham gasht chun HAFIZ muqeem
              Chun kharabati shud aey yar e tareeqat peer e ma
Urdu:      Maen bhee HAFIZ ki tarheh baethoun na maikhanay maen kun 
              Jab kharabati bana, aey yar, apna peer hay

English:=== Be not surprised, O mystic friends, to see him in the fore
                  When HAFIZ sees that the master too is at the tavern's door
                                                      ====
