English & Urdu Translation of Hafiz 8

                                            Ghazal 8


Persian:  Saqi baguzar az kaf e khud ratl e garan ra
              Ta khush baguranaem jahan e guzaran ra 
Urdu:        Saqi too gira hath say ab ratl garan ko
                Ta khoob guzaraen yuheen umr e guzaran ko

English:=== Come my love, and fill the cup, and fill it to the brim
                  So life becomes more livable, and not so dim and grim
                                                      -

Persian:  Zahid cheh ajab gar kunadam aeb ba rindi
              Bar ahl e hunar taana bawad bayhunaran ra
Urdu:      Zahid nay mujhay rind kaha hay toe aajab kya
              Taanoun say yuheen kaam raha bayhunaran ko

English:=== And listen you not to the holy man; he is always finding fault
                  But expect you what from a petty man worth who is not his salt? 
                                                          -

Persian:  Dar qibla o butkhana to masjoodi o maabood
              Roo sooay to bashad hama sahib nazaran ra
Urdu:      Kaabay maen hay khilwat toe hay butkhanay maen jilvat
              Her soo nazar aata hay too sahib nazaran ko

English:=== For knows he not, when you look for God you find him everywhere
                  Be it the temple, mosque, or pub, or be it here, or there
                                                            -

Persian:  Arbab e khirad zouq e mayay ishq cheh danand
              Az halat e ma neest khabar baykhabaran ra
Urdu:      Arbab e khirad ko naheen zouq e mayay ulfat
              Kuen hal ki mairay ho khabar baykhabaran ko

English;=== And the wise men, the wine of love they never ever touch
                  They think they know what's there to know; in fact they know not much
                                                              -

Persian:  Kaamay talabad HAFIZ azin chashma e haiwan
              Ary, natawan khurd naseeb e digaran ra
Urdu:      HAFIZ ko bohat chashma e haiwan ki talab hay
              Hergiz na piyay ga wo naseeb e digaran ko

English:=== Though a learned man is HAFIZ not, he does know what he wants
                  He takes his women, and wine, and whatever else God grants
                                                          ====
