The Write to Remain Unsilent
A short note of my thoughts about WDC

Note: This piece was written during my third week on the site. I still hold the same views, I'm just not as new as indicated.

Hi. My name is Mike, and I would like to take a moment to share a few things with all of you. I've been here for three weeks, and I have just scratched the surface of what this site has to offer.

As a newbie, I have needed help along the way. The people on this site are extremely helpful and supportive. There is no room for negativity. It is frowned upon, and will only make your time here less enjoyable, and less frequent.

You will encounter criticism; however, everyone tries to do it constructively. No one is here to bash or bad mouth your work. Writing is important to a lot of people. Some do it for a living, while others purely for fun. In either case, negative commentary will only hinder progress, making the individual question their abilities. That is not the purpose of this site.

Writing.com tries to promote a positive environment for all of us. As stated earlier, you will encounter criticism. The good news is that it's balanced with positive remarks about your work. It makes no sense to point out only what was wrong. People like to hear when they did something right. It drives them to build on that while working to get better.

I hope all who visit this site get something positive out of it. If you came here with the sole intention of handing out bad reviews because you think it's some joke, then simply find another place to spread your venom. As a member of this great site I do not appreciate such ill advised tactics, and neither do most others.

Let us all continue striving to improve ourselves. Do not concern yourself with how long that takes. Even the smallest of forward steps move you closer to your goal. Let your talent rise up to the surface. Writing can help free your mind and let your soul soar high. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but without those words, the picture is worth nothing.

Keep those stories, poems, and thoughts coming. The world is a better place when filled with the passion and emotions that only words can provide.

Thank you and goodnight.
