Island of Hope
A poem about losing everything but hope.

Island of Hope

The noon sun
glares at the sea,
the murky water
surrounding me;
its waves splash
against the sand,
gradually, slowly
engulfing my land

Slipping into the water I see
Friends, Love, Family,
swallowed whole by
Death, Fear and Confusion

My land is melting away
I’ve nothing left but a patch of earth
I’m clinging to the final word
etched in the sand;
Hope.
